ENFOS To Co-Present At IPEC With Valero & Total S.A.

We are proud to announce that ENFOS we will be co-presenting at the 23rd International Petroleum Environmental Conference alongside Valero and Total S.A.. This year's conference will be held at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans from November 8th to the 11th.

Each year, IPEC gathers an unparalleled line-up of industry leaders, forward thinkers and E&P experts to discuss environmental issues and share best practices. The list of guests and speakers includes a wide array of environmental scientists and engineers, along with federal regulators and technicians, university representatives, R&D firms and more.  Along with the presenters, IPEC will feature several Technical Sessions covering a range of environmental issues such as water management, soil, surface and groundwater remediation, environmental diagnostics and more.

ENFOS Executive Vice President and Chief of Operations Roger Well, Valero Director of Environmental Remediation Shay Wideman and Total S.A. Business Coordinator Rick Hagar will be hosting a presentation titled Consistency in Project Development: Best Management Practices in Environmental Remediation. Management of environmental remediation projects has proven to be a sizable challenge for the organizations who are faced with this responsibility. For example, the U.S GAO forecast for environmental cleanup expenditures in the United States has escalated from $1.6B in 1980 to approximately $1 trillion in 2010. This is partially attributed to the complexity and risks associated with persistent contaminates at legacy sites. For operating facilities, the problem is exacerbated by new spills or discoveries that can occur on a frequent basis.

Organizations that have implemented strategies to improve their project development and lifecycle management processes stand a much better chance to stay ahead of the business risks and negative implications of scope creep and cost overruns. The presentation will look at different approaches to project development and associated outcomes.  Insights will be shared by managers from two mature and large environmental remediation programs, Total S.A. and Valero. One example includes a “stage and decision gate” process from project inception through closure designed to make the best decisions at the critical junctures in the lifecycle.  The other example is an approach that focuses on data-driven strategy setting and decision-making.  This includes closely managing changes to assumptions and conditions that may impact strategies and financial estimates.
